seared scollops from Scale House restaurant in northern VTIn the heart of Hardwick, VT you will find this culinary treasure. You will some of the freshest seafood to be found in the region, shipped fresh from the shore especially for this restaurant, and prepared for your plate. The addition of unique combinations and flavors has made the Scale House a popular destination.

Occupying space in one of the old block buildings downtown, entering the Scale House restaurant is like stepping into a different world. The industrial style, sleek lines, and use of metals take the imagination far from a little town in the Northeast Kingdom.

There are two dining spaces in the Scale House, so choose the one that best fits your taste. The main room is dominated by the bar, a beautifully burnished metal piece of art lined with seats. The back dining room offers a more traditional dining environment. Both rooms, though decorated with metal and wood, are kept from being too oppressive by high ceilings and the large windows occupying the front walls of the space.

Large Bar area at Hardwick VT RestaurantOffering a varied dinner menu, seafood is only the beginning.

House made fresh pasta is a star on this dinner menu. The only place in the NEK (that we know of) that sports this labor intensive creation. The texture of fresh, well made pasta adds to the dishes that incorporate it. It also tells diners that this restaurant is truly a labor of love for the owners and chefs involved.

Another stand out is dessert. Made fresh by the local Bien Fait Bakery especially for the Scale House, and changed seasonally, these provide a spectacular ending to your meal.

The Scale House restaurant in Hardwick has provided a different dining experience than other nearby establishments. A well trained staff, an owner that greets his diners, and a menu that spans a multitude of taste preferences all lend to a feeling of care and community at this establishment.
