Every year on Mother’s Day, we rush to find something nice for mom, set up a reservation at her favorite place, or take her to a special meal. The problem is, Mother’s Day often sneaks up on us.
There is that last minute rush to find that Mother’s Day buffet, get a nice gift, or at least a house plant. This year, be prepared…
There are so many buffets, special breakfasts, lunches, and even Mother’s Day dinners planned at restaurants throughout the Northeast Kingdom. Call and set up a reservation, or try one that isn’t accepting reservations and wing it.
Take a nice scenic drive through Vermont in the spring, get a great meal, and spend some quality time with mom this year – it may be the best gift you could give her.
Mother’s Day in Essex County
Brighton
The Essex House: Brunch starts at 10:30 a.m. that includes stuffed French toast, eggs Benedict, maple sausage quiche, and a broccoli cheddar quiche. There will also be Dinner specials that evening including baked scallops, filet mignon, and a brie, spinach and sun dried tomato stuffed chicken breast.
Mother’s Day in Caledonia County
Concord
Mooselook Restaurant: Looking for a Mother’s Day dinner? Mooselook will be serving a Prime rib special, a fish special, and a number of others that have yet to be finalized – Dinner seating is on a first come first serve basis.
Hardwick
Positive Pie: This Mother’s Day Positive Pie is offering a breakfast brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as their regular menu. Call to make reservations.
Lyndonville
Everybuddy’s Casual Dining: Two Buffets will be offered at Everybuddy’s Casual Dining. The breakfast buffet will be served from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. followed by a lunch buffet. No reservations needed.
Junipers at the Wildflower Inn: A three course brunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Enjoy beautiful views and an elegant meal. Choose one item for each course – selection include omelets, waffles, a sweet potato pizza, honey, garlic chicken, a fiddle-head risotto and more.
Lyndon Freighthouse: This Mother’s Day the Freight House is offering a list of specials. For breakfast they have berry crapes, a veggy frittata, and creme brulee French toast. At Lunch sample a strawberry spinach salad, chicken bruschetta, veggy lasagna, and a number of desert specials. Mothers will be given flowers throughout the day.

Barton
Parson’s Corner: They fill up quick so get there early, but on Mother’s Day Parson’s will be serving up a host of brunch specials, menu not finalized yet but the Chef has some very special things planned. No reservations needed.
Coventry
Martha’s Diner – Customers can enjoy a few daily specials, and mom’s will be treated to flowers.
Derby
Vermont Pie and Pasta: Check out their brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. filled with specially made items, as well as the regular Lunch menu/ After 3 p.m. the regular dinner menu will be offered. If you’re interested, make reservations.
Jay
Jay Village Inn: Check out the annual Mother’s Day Brunch at the Jay Village Inn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring special menu items. Reservations are encouraged.
Newport
The Eastside: An annual tradition, the Eastside Mother’s Day breakfast buffet starts at 7:30 a.m. and runs until 11:30 a.m. This will be followed by a special dinner buffet from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. as well as the normal dinner menu. Buffet is by reservation only, and dinner reservations are encouraged.
Brown Cow: From 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. mothers will get flowers and can enjoy one of the wonderful specials or a favorite from the regular menu.
La Belvedere: Enjoy a brunch buffet featuring an omelet station and a chocolate fountain, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. By reservation – call and grab your spot.
Brenda’s Homestyle Cookin’: Looking for a simple, but nice breakfast with mom – Brenda’s is offering fruit and quiche specials. And the first 50 Moms will get carnations.
Newport Cider House Bar and Grill: Enjoy a special brunch menu from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that includes waffles, eggs Benedict, frittatas, haddock, crab cakes, salads, a French dip sandwich, and a number of yet to be determined specials. There will also be Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and other specialty cocktails.
Orleans
Carriage House Café and Grill: Enjoy a Breakfast buffet served until 2 p.m. No reservations needed, but it is a smaller restaurant so it will fill up fast.
Orleans Country Club: The Country Club is open for the season, and what a great way to start out! Enjoy a Brunch Buffet from 10 a.m. ‘till 2 p.m. that includes chef carved baked ham with orange maple glaze; cheese and veggy frittata, stuffed French toast, eggs, sausage, fried potato, Caesar salad, baked salmon, pastries and more.
Westmore
Gil’s Bar and Grill: A special Mother’s Day Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. stuffed chicken, seafood, pork tenderloin, omelets, and even a beef roulade are on the menu.
